Love for the Outdoors

My love for the outdoors has driven me to try new experiences and push my limits physically and mentally. Some highlights include backpacking 120 miles in the Bob Marshall Wilderness in Montana; completing a Rim-to-Rim-to-Rim hike of The Grand Canyon; jumping out of a plane seven times; SCUBA diving in Cozumel, Roatan, Bonaire, and the Cayman Islands; growing up sailing on the Texas coast; black bear hunting in Pagosa Springs, CO; backpacking to the highest elevation hot springs in North America; driving the highest off-road mountain pass in North America (Imogene Pass); and summitting Long’s Peak in Colorado.

Various Athletic Pursuits and Hobbies

My effort to push myself physically and mentally does not stop at my pursuit of the outdoors. I have strived to embrace discomfort in many different ways. Some highlights include completing a Spartan Ultra-Beast (31 miles) with a 30 pound weighted vest, completing over 60 Spartan obstacle course races, attempting power lifting in college, and pickup up off-road unicycling.

Leadership Opportunities

I have been fortunate to have several opportunities to work with and lead groups of my peers. Starting at a young age as an Eagle Scout, gaining more than five years of experience in management working through high school and college, becoming a safety officer for Texas A&M Offroad, and even now leading my capstone team in the development of our screw propelled front loader, I have gained significant experience leading a wide variety of individuals in even wider pursuits.
